Tazorac - January 15th, 2010

Tazorac

Tazorac is a prescription acne treatment that comes in creams and gels with 0.1% concentrations. They claim that you can start your fight here and even give you rebates as a first time offer. It can apparently knock out even stubborn acne, but it is indicated for mild to moderate acne vulgaris only, not stubborn or severe acne vulgaris.

History of Tazorac

The active ingredient in Tazorac known as tazarotene has been tested for various purposes. One of the most recent one was conducted on brittle nails, and it was sponsored by Allergan and conducted by Columbia University researchers. They have since also provided a 0.05% concentration cream online. It has also been indicated for the treatment of psoriasis.

Benefits

Tazorac can get rid of mild to moderate cases of acne. It is a retinoid treatment or vitamin A treatment generally speaking. It requires a prescription, and it has been studied and shown to have results and potential. They say it can treat whiteheads, blackheads, red pimples, and pimples containing pus. Your skin should ideally start to improve after 4 weeks, which is short compared to some prescriptions.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects include severe drying, pregnancy complications, feeling of warmth, itching, irritation, mild peeling, redness, selling, rash, hives, dizziness, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, excessive burning, tenderness of the skin, or extreme dryness.

Conclusion

We would not recommend using Tazorac. It doesn’t provide the desired results, and you would only be frustrated by their lack of certain things in general. it takes a shorter time than most prescriptions they say. But considering most take about 12 weeks or more, that is really not saying a whole lot, and there is of course no guarantee. This formula can cause quite a few side effects, and we really don’t believe it’s worth it.

I’ve used Tazorac and liked it but at $339.00 per tube it is far, far to costly.
Are the ones you list above available without a prescription?
